more competitively through effective acquisition, generation,

Dr. Richard Y. K. Fung, Director of the E-KIT Lab, said, "For
local SMEs to gain competitiveness and sustain their growth in

SAR Government Selects JOS as a Critical Partner to Implement
its IT Initiatives
Posted Date: July 23, 2002
(Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Government
has awarded Jardine OneSolution (JOS) a 30-month contract to help
introduce comprehensive information technology (IT) networking capabilities
for government departments.
JOS will provide office systems
and network implementation services including network planning,
design, implementation and support, and office systems implementation
for government departments.
The contract was awarded by the
Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) of the SAR Government
under the department's Information Technology Professional Services
Arrangement (ITPSA). During the bidding process as the ITSD sought
to assess potential contractors, a comprehensive range of abilities
and competencies were evaluated. Jardine OneSolution demonstrated
its superior ability to provide quality professional services
according to detailed specifications. The company's systematic
project management methodology and quality management system were
some of the key factors in the company's successful pursuit of
the contract.
The contract is a key component
of the Hong Kong Government's strategy to make IT a centerpiece
of the Special Administrative Region's economic development. "The
arrangement for these agreements is part of the implementation
of the Government's IT outsourcing policy to enlarge the capacity
for IT service delivery, to accelerate the delivery of IT solutions
and to create a market of sufficient size to encourage the further
development of the IT industry locally," said Alan Wong,
the Director of Information Technology Services at the ITPSA contract
signing.
Jardine OneSolution is gratified
by the Government's confidence. The appointment reflects the Government's
continued belief in JOS's ability to provide quality support services,
according to Paul Mak, the company's Group Director: "Jardine
OneSolution has specialised in providing services to IT users

by the Hong Kong Government."
"The Hong Kong Government
has been at the forefront of the IT revolution and recognises
how important it is to secure the right partner for its initiatives,"
says Mak. "JOS is very proud to have been selected as one
of the service providers by such a demanding client with an impressive
vision of the future."

JOS Partners
with MessageLabs to Provide Advanced e-Mail Scanning Services
Posted Date: July 12, 2002
(Hong Kong) Jardine OneSolution has
signed a partnership agreement with UK-based e-mail security consultant,
MessageLabs, to offer an advanced e-mail security solution to JOS
customers, which currently comprise over 1,000 small-to-medium sized
enterprises (SMEs).
The SkyScan AV (anti-virus) solution
provided by MessageLabs is a managed and multi-layered anti-virus
service based on advanced heuristic scanning technology. It comes
with an unprecedented 100% protection guarantee against all past,
present and future viruses. According to Nick Hawkins, Director
and General Manager, Asia Pacific of MessageLabs, the SkyScan
AV service has never let a virus infect a single customer and
it has acclaimed worldwide recognition for stopping and naming
the LoveBug virus.
"The SkyScan AV service is
perfectly suited to the needs of our customers," said Nelson
Chan, General Manager, Computer and Network Systems of JOS. "One
of the main problems SMEs face in Hong Kong is that they have
limited IT manpower, making it difficult to set up systems with
comprehensive virus protection features."
"MessageLabs' service will
solve this problem because implementation is very simple and quick,
thus saving time and money where setup would otherwise be a daunting
task," said Mr Chan.
According to Mr Chan, viruses
in Hong Kong over the past year, such as 'SirCam', 'Klez.H' and
the well-known 'I Love You' viruses, have cost businesses millions
of dollars in lost time, money and opportunity. In a 2002 KPMG
survey, it was found that more than 60% of corporations globally
have been affected by e-mail viruses.
"The threat of e-mail viruses
is still increasing day-by-day. MessageLabs' Skyscan service will
supplement our customers' existing IT infrastructure and anti-virus
software to offer comprehensive protection against e-mail borne
viruses," Mr Chan said.
Mr Hawkins of MessageLabs is pleased
that a major system integrator such as JOS has chosen to incorporate
SkyScan AV in its IT offerings. "Our Internet level approach
has proven to be successful in stopping viruses before they come
anywhere near our customers' network boundaries. By offering 24x7
monitoring and comprehensive reporting services, we help relieve
our customers a lot of hassles in managing their systems."
According to Mr Chan, the SkyScan AV service is available to JOS
customers effective from today. The company also plans to introduce
other MessageLabs services such as SkyScan AP (anti-pornography),
SkyScan AS (anti-spam) and content filtering to its customers
later in 2002.
JOS has signed up for MessageLabs
service which will be up and running in July 2002. As an operating
company of the Jardine's Group, JOS will be promoting MessageLabs
products and services throughout the Jardine Group of Companies.

COMPUTER
ASSOCIATES APPOINTS JOS DISTRIBUTION AS VALUED-ADDED DISTRIBUTOR
Posted Date: March 13, 2002
(Kuala Lumpur) - Computer Associates
(CA), the world's leading eBusiness solutions provider, announced
today the official appointment of JOS Distribution (JOS), a leading
local provider for technology solutions, as a value-added distributor
(VAD) for CA's BrightStor Enterprise Backup storage management
solution in Malaysia.
The strategic partnership is expected
to greatly strengthen CA's capability to tap the growing opportunities
in Malaysia's enterprise storage management market. In light of
the September 11 tragic incident, more enterprises are putting
emphasis on business continuity strategies than ever before. According
to Gartner Dataquest, the worldwide storage services market will
grow from US$26 billion in 2002 to US$42 billion in 2005. This
incredible growth shows the increasing demands to meet storage
challenges, as more volumes of data need to be protected and managed
in order to provide users the 24x7 access they require.
"CA's vision is to help the
business community embrace technology by capitalizing on our integrated
and robust eBusiness solutions," said Kenny Tan, Country
Manager for CA Malaysia, "JOS' appointment as our VAD in
Malaysia is significant in many ways. For CA, the partnership
brings tremendous value to our ability to develop the storage
market, which is one of the fastest growing and critical aspects
of eBusiness in Malaysia. For JOS, the inclusion of the BrightStor
Enterprise Backup solution in its portfolio of offerings is a
major plus in terms of further strengthening their position as
a leading systems provider."
CA's latest enterprise-class solution,
BrightStor Enterprise Backup delivers unlimited scalability and
reliability in a high performance data protection solution that
addresses the needs of large, heterogeneous enterprises and data
centers with Windows NT/200, Solaris and UNIX environments. The
solution automates every traditional data protection task, simplifying
human operations. It also enables organizations to manage storage
hardware and labour costs better, thereby lowering Total Cost
of Ownership (TCO).
As the sole VAD in Malaysia, JOS
is supporting CA's channel offering by acting as the first line
of support to resellers and customers alike, providing them with
sales, technical and marketing expertise. JOS' appointment as
a VAD is based on the company's impressive track record as a reliable
channel partner with top-notch service levels.
"We are honoured to be chosen
as the sole VAD for CA's storage management solution," said
PL Leong, Country Manager of Enterprise Products Division for
JOS Distribution Malaysia. "There is a pervasive demand for
scalable storage environments that can ensure uninterrupted data
access, effectively manage increasingly complex environments and
deal with shrinking backup windows. Equipped with CA's robust
solution and our value-added support services, this new partnership
will help enterprises in Malaysia enjoy quick, efficient implementation
and higher levels of service."
John Yang, Assistant Vice President
of Channel Sales, Computer Associates Southeast Asia said, "With
the steady growth of eBusiness, we have found the right distribution
partner to reach our customers. This partnership with JOS is imperative
as its excellent network of resellers/end users and impressive
service infrastructure enables us to extend our channel outreach
to new levels in Malaysia."
The partnership between CA and
JOS builds upon a long established relationship that has existed
between the two companies over the past years. During this time,
JOS Distribution has been instrumental in selling a variety of
CA solutions in enterprise management, security, storage and other
areas. JOS has been successful in meeting the evolving IT needs
of customers by selling ARCserve, NetworkIT and InnoculateIT.
