Hong Kong creativity shines through as 13 teams shortlisted for JOS Innovation Awards 2018-19

Closed door learning and sharing session with JOS, Manulife, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group and Sino Group

Hong Kong – 8 January, 2019 - JOS, a technology solutions provider for Asia’s changing environment, and its partners, Manulife, Hong Kong Maxim's Group[1] and Sino Group have announced the shortlisted teams in the annual JOS Innovation Awards. At a kick-off ceremony held today, the thirteen teams, numbering over forty students, participated in a learning and sharing session about customer experience challenges found in the technology, insurance, food & beverage services and property sectors.

All those shortlisted can now look forward to the battle round on 12 April 2019 where four teams will walk away with HK$30,000 each and win a place on the JOS Innovation Awards 2018-19 mentorship programme. Industry pundits from JOS, Manulife, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group and Sino Group will provide valuable insights into learning and what it takes to succeed in business together with potentially offering internships.

“This year, the JOS Innovation Awards yet again attracted high calibre entries from students who approached the customer experience theme with great enthusiasm and creativity. There were some amazing ideas put forward and it was very hard to determine the shortlisted entries,” said Eric Or, Managing Director, Greater China, JOS. “Today’s sharing session allowed executives and students a common platform to voice their thoughts on current and future customer experience trends and how these may be addressed.”

The Awards themselves are designed to demonstrate creative thinking and problem solving skills to everyday business challenges. The JOS Innovation Awards 2018-19 attracted over fifty teams of between two and five university students in Hong Kong all examining the customer experience challenge and coming up with solutions for JOS, Manulife, Hong Kong Maxim’s Group and Sino Group.

We’re excited to see the ideas the students present after gaining more understanding of our industry and customers."

During the kick-off ceremony, representatives from JOS, Manulife, Maxim’s Caterers Limited, and Sino Group took part in a panel discussion on customer experience, the challenges faced, trends and spoke about the JOS Innovation Award submissions. The session also provided the teams with genuine insights and learnings from Hong Kong business leaders in a closed-door setting.

While technology plays a key role in digitisation, the right talent, mindset and leadership are equally important. JOS sees five technology pillars and three corporate principles as the core foundations for making innovation real.

This is the same for the food and beverage industry with customers opting for diversity, speed and convenience. This requires innovative ways to understand the customers’ decision-making process. “The JOS Innovation Awards entries provide us with valuable insights to keep the customer experience fresh and relevant in the new era, particular at our properties. “There are over twenty thousand students graduating from Hong Kong universities every year who look to gravitate towards companies they perceive to have the strongest brands. This perception is shaped, in part, by the experience they have received as customers. Thus, the customer experience theme has allowed every participant to address issues they have experienced and to find a solution,” said Eric from JOS.

JOS 預測 2017 年科技發展新趨勢

香港 – 2017 年1月20日 – 全球正探視顛覆性科技應用對商業社會的傳統營運模式及市民日常生活所帶來之革新和全新的發展面貌。新年伊始,JOS作為亞洲主要科技服務供應商之一,綜觀多項嶄新技術在2017年於亞洲地區商業的發展趨勢發表見解。

物聯網助零售業建優勢

香港零售業正面對旅客人數下降的挑戰,加上人民幣貶值令港元強勢等因素,減低中國內地旅客的消費意欲,而在網上購物大行其道的環境下,進一步為傳統零售業的前景帶來巨大挑戰,預計實體零售商將於2017年集中以物聯網(IoT)建立優勢,應對市場變化。

物聯網技術其實早已應用於零售管理,例如部分商場設置了信標和零售感測器,藉此追蹤人流路線和訪客流量,以便設計出最佳的商場佈局,並盡量增加租金收益。此外,零售商也可透過物聯網技術,向特選顧客發送尊有的優惠券或限時優惠,藉此提升傳統實體零售店的價值,提高顧客的忠誠度。

隨著零售商應用物聯網的層面日漸擴大,消費者自然會關注相關公司究竟會如何存取他們的個人資料及確保資料安全。鑒於一直有不少有關物聯網設備安全漏洞的事故出現,精明的零售商必須及早為物聯網服務及流程做好安全保護措施,以保護所得資料。因物聯網等新資訊科技所產生的風險日新月異,儘管企業意識到潛在的有關網絡安全漏洞會對其商業運作及財政帶來極大的危機,但是所擁有的資源往往有限。當中,更只有少部份企業能夠為突如其來的惡意攻擊預先作好部署。根據領先訊息技術研究和諮詢公司高德納於2016年發表的十大網絡安全預測,到2020年,企業所經歷黑客成功攻擊的原因其中三分之一是由於其淺薄的IT資源未能充份保障企業。為了防範網絡安全事故於未然,企業實在有需要考慮將網絡安全管理工作外判予值得信任的供應商負責,及早制定一系列網絡安全措施,以至採用網絡保險解決方案,預防網絡威脅。

區塊鏈促進金融服務創新

踏入2017年,區塊鏈(Blockchain)預計將會成為炙手可熱的金融科技,較應用同類型技術的比特幣開展更廣闊的金融領域,推動業界帶來更多創新服務。

區塊鏈是一項嶄新並簡單的技術,用之追蹤貨幣的流向、驗證交易和驗證金融資產的所有權。區塊鏈本身是一種分散式的資料庫,由交易信息塊結合而成,而每一個區塊都載有詳細的交易信息,並形成塊鏈,成為區塊鏈數據庫的一部分。區塊鏈不但運作快速和高效,還備有安全設計。即使有黑客入侵,亦只會影響其中一塊,並不會破壞塊鏈。在新的一年,金融服務企業家應該仔細研究可以在區塊鏈上運作之服務,於市場推出創新的金融服務。

為推動本港金融科技發展,香港金融管理局於去年9月推出「金融科技監管沙盒」措施,為企業提供一個具有彈性監管的試驗環境,務求為香港金融業改革者帶來新機遇,以研發及推出嶄新金融科技服務。全球不同的商業重鎮均於市場將自己定位為金融科技領域先鋒而渴望分一杯羹。,因此2017年將會是香港在金融科技確立領導地位的重要一年。

結合擴增實境(AR)技術改革維修業

去年,應用結合擴增實境(AR) 技術的手機遊戲Pokémon GO於全球大受歡迎。隨著AR技術廣獲消費者採納,相信於2017年,相關技術亦逐步應用於工作層面。AR技術可以讓用家獲取顯示在實境的虛擬化資訊,潛力龐大,特別是在應用於維修及工程操作等行業。舉例來說,汽車維修人員可運用免提AR影像重疊技術,即時找出汽車的潛在問題,繼而進行適當維修。

除此之外,縱使顧客缺乏相關工程或行業知識,仍可以透過VR技術,了解產品的規格及機件問題。對客戶而言,可以加強他們對工業過程的控制和增加其透明度。對企業而言,運用AR技術能夠為客戶提供如此高透明度服務,則可加強客戶對品牌的信任和忠誠度。

JOS’s networking capabilities underlined in the VMware NSX for Horizon Showcase at vFORUM 2016 Hong Kong

Hong Kong – 7 November, 2016 – JOS was proud to showcase VMware NSX for Horizon at vForum 2016 Hong Kong held on 4 November 2016. The annual VMware event enabled industry players to deliver useful knowledge and industry insights to help enterprises master powerful business innovation, unrestrained by technical limitations.

The vendor event brought to the market a crowd of over 1,100 delegates across different sectors. JOS’s showcase was able to benefit from this industry exposure. JOS showcases featured IoT solutions at MSX // IoT in Hong Kong

Hong Kong – 14 October, 2016 – JOS demonstrated its Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities at the MSX // IoT (Microsoft Experience – Internet of Things) in Hong Kong, a Microsoft Hong Kong event held on 13 October 2016 which aimed to help delegates discover new insights and possibilities with IoT.

JOS exchanges insights with the region’s top executives at industry’s foremost summit

Singapore – 3 October, 2016 – JOS, a Sliver Sponsor, demonstrated its thought leadership in the technology space by hosting a series of Enterprise Networking Table discussions at the Annual CIO Summit held on 29 September 2016 in Singapore. The industry’s foremost gathering of CIOs in Asia saw over 160 CIOs and senior IT executives from across different industries in Asia, offering industry practitioners an opportunity to keep abreast of the latest global trends, learn from the best practices and engage in discussions during dedicated networking sessions.

Technology heads across Asia had the opportunity to hear about the latest global trends, learn from ICT best practices and get involved in general discussions with counterparts and peers during the dedicated networking breaks. JOS Innovation Awards 2016-17 is now on!

Entering its second year, the JOS Innovation Awards come inspire, nurture and recognise students in Hong Kong for their smart ideas and innovative thinking. Full-time tertiary, undergraduate and post-graduate students studying in Hong Kong are eligible for entering the Awards. The program provides a platform for students to realize their dreams by applying innovative technology to make our world a more efficient and better place to live.

The Awards accept group applications of two to five members in a team. This year, the competition features in FIVE key areas and students are required to submit innovations enabled by technologies – Internet of Things, mobility or web-based solutions.

JOS showcases how to turn big data into big growth at Big Data Solution Day 2016

Hong Kong – 14 September, 2016 – Entitled “Turn your big data into big growth”, JOS’s Big Data Solution Day 2016 was successfully held on 13 September 2016. JOS strived to showcase how the company can help customers drive the greatest business value from fast-moving, unstructured or structured and complex streams of data through use of powerful big data technologies. Demonstrating a great success, the event had a large number of C-Level executives, business leaders and IT professionals from different industries in attendance.

JOS Singapore promotes data analytics adoption at Singapore Geospatial Challenge Business Analytics Mania 2016

Singapore – 4 September 2016 – JOS Singapore partners with analytics leader SAS Institute, both as Main Sponsor, to support the Singapore Geospatial Challenge Business Analytics Mania (SGCBAM) 2016.

The launch of SGCBAM aligns with the Singapore government’s goal to build up analytics competency, furthering the country’s Smart Nation initiatives. A nationwide competition in Singapore co-organized by National University of Singapore SGCBAM Committee and Singapore Land Authority, the event aims to generate awareness amongst pre-university and university students on the subject of geospatial analysis and its application to business scenarios.

As Main Sponsor of SGCBAM, JOS demonstrated its expertise by providing the underlying IT infrastructure, network and security services configured to support the computational workloads for this nationwide competition. JOS’s solution delivery and support for SGCBAM reflects its commitment and contributions as a trusted IT service provider to the education sector in Singapore. Over 110 pre-university and university students participated in this two-day competition. JOS appoints Barnaby Grosvenor as Group Head of Cyber Security Solutions

Hong Kong – 24 August, 2016 – JOS, one of Asia’s leading systems integrators, solutions providers and technology consultancies, today announced that Barnaby Grosvenor has been appointed as Group Head of Cyber Security Solutions and he is based in the company’s Singapore office. His appointment strengthens JOS’s specialist expertise in this field and underpins the company’s commitment to providing tailored technology solutions to its enterprise customers.

Mr. Grosvenor is an experienced cyber security specialist, having a long and successful track record overseeing enterprise security. He joins JOS from Jardine Lloyd Thompson in London where he was Group Chief Information Security Officer. In his earlier executive leadership roles, he served as CIO for Grey, one of the global leading advertising agencies and CTO and CISO for WPP Group. He also worked for banking giants HSBC and Standard Chartered.

JOS Hong Kong joins “Say Yes to Breastfeeding” to show community support

Hong Kong – 3 August, 2016 – JOS Hong Kong pledged to support “Say Yes to Breastfeeding”, a campaign initiated by the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) in collaboration with the Food and Health Bureau, Department of Health. The campaign is aimed to educate the public on mothers’ needs for support in the community in order to sustain breastfeeding; to cultivate a positive public attitude towards breastfeeding in the workplace and public place; and to provide mothers with better community support for sustaining breastfeeding.

JOS is committed to providing an appropriate and friendly environment for breastfeeding employees to express breast milk at workplace so that they can continue breastfeeding for their babies. People are an invaluable asset to JOS. We support mothers to give their best to their new born baby and agree that returning to work should not be a barrier for mothers to continue giving their babies the best nutrition.
